CINE-CONCERT
OLIVIER DUET
IMPRESSIONS
A cine-concert in homage to these forgotten women
After researching and watching her filmography, Isabelle Olivier came up with the idea of creating a cine-concert around the figure of Alice Guy. In her artistic journey, Isabelle Olivier has collaborated four times with Agnès Varda – a pioneer of contemporary cinema. This deep motivation drives her to return to her roots. In tribute to these unfairly forgotten cinema pioneers, Isabelle Olivier, along with Tom Olivier-Beuf, composes an eclectic program accessible to all, incorporating a particularly elaborate sonic exploration between acoustic and electronic elements.
Isabelle Olivier and Raphael Olivier are two award-winning performers and composers.Together they create a unique duet sound, blending their respective musical worlds as French natives. Hailing from Paris, they share their artistic palette on guitar and harp, and develop a journey of soundscapes at the crossroads of jazz, folk, and world music. This project is inspired by the open minds and open hearts of the people, places, and moments they’ve experienced as mother and son. Ranging from jazz standards to modern improvisations and traditional French songs, they invite you into their exploration of curiosity, togetherness, and musical innovation.
At the crossroads of jazz, impressionist music, tango and electronic music of today, Impressions is an ode to life and the emergence of emotions. This show creates the meeting between music - a septet with harp, accordion, string quartet and drums - and digital creation. We find the inspiration of impressionist musicians, such as Mel Bonis, Lili Boulanger, Claude Debussy or Maurice Ravel, but also of painters, of Berthe Morisot or Marie Cassatt, Paul Cézanne or Vincent Van Gogh, without denying the influence of Alice or John Coltrane. A festive and sharing concert, led by the generous and talented jazz harpist Isabelle Olivier!
